I’ve taken the plunge and have booked some time off. Just like that 😳. I’m running on fumes, but I feel like it’s ok to do so if there’s a little bit of an end in the sight.

You might not be able to keep it tidy every day, but it really helps to keep the lid on things if you have a regular clean once or twice a week 🧼.

It’s difficult at best of times, but I think parents and carers of young school age kids are really feeling it at the moment. Hang in there! Like @roseandleeinteriors said: one day at a time- that’s my mantra at the moment. Trying hard to keep it all together: work, new enquiries, staff management, recruitment for two different areas and positions, childcare, lack of childcare, and so on 🥵🧟‍♀️.

Or could you make some re-arrangements? If you’re going away wouldn’t you want to come back to a clean house that’s been tidied and cleaned while you were away enjoying a break from home duties? We all know the last minute run around the house for bits of things- it can get messy! I always say to myself that I have to clean the house before I go away. But that mixed with working until right before going on holiday, making sure the little person in the house has all their stuff, yourself sorted, and checking 7 times that the back door is locked..well it can get a bit messy!

So to avoid coming back to a messy house, is there a way around it? Could you could leave a key with someone? Can you trust your cleaner to keep a key while you’re away and post it back when they are done? Could a friend or family member let them in and out? Your cleaner could also water your plants if it’s during summer and they need a top up while you’re away, feed the cat etc.

With the added self isolation cancellations it can get a bit much, or the opposite really. Many smaller cleaning businesses, or other industry self-employed people don’t ask you to sign a contract with them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need the steady income for themselves and their staff.

Instead of cancelling think of rescheduling. We are happy to be flexible if at all possible. Instead of cancelling think if there’s another way that your cleaner could still come and clean, we do hold keys for some of our clients, although less so now that people work from home, but before Covid it was the norm for us to let ourselves in and out. We can always work something out 😊.

Don’t know how long you’d need to hire a clean

Don’t know how long you’d need to hire a cleaner for to get your home cleaned? It really depends- most commonly people have 2/3 hours per clean, weekly or fortnightly. We even have weekly cleans that are 4/5/6 hours and that’s to get the whole house, every room, cleaned.

This is what we got done today with two cleaners. It took us one hour to clean the stairs: wiped them down by hand due to tricky dog hairs(rubber gloves work great for such a job), dusted handrails and skirting boards. Then kitchen: counter tops, cupboard doors, hoover and mop the floor. Small toilet: toilet, sink, floor hoovered and mopped. Main bathroom with bath, sink, toilet and a shower- all cleaned, floor hoovered and mopped. Hallway: dusted, hoovered and mopped, also mirror cleaned. Living room got a quick dust down, tv console cleaned of little finger prints on the glass, quick tidy up (fluff up cushions, find little books between cushions 👼). Hoover the floor. Dust fireplace. And wipe down the dining table and hoover the dining area.
Now, this home has 4 bedrooms. They don’t get cleaned by us- time just runs out before that. So 2 hours of cleaning can get a lot done, but in most cases not the whole house🤷‍♀️.
